壹、具體含義不同
1、動詞believe的含義為“相信”、“認為”。如：
Do?you?believe?that?cats?eat?grass
妳相信貓吃草嗎？?
2、believe?in表示“信仰”、“相信……的存在”、“相信……的價值”。He?believes?in?ancient?myths.?
他相信古代神話。?
二、在後面接某人時意義不同
1、believe sb：相信某人說的話，相當於believe what sb says，可譯為”相信……說的是真的“，如：
I?believe?him. 等同於I?believe?his?words.
我相信他（的話）。
2、believe in sb：相信某人的品行或能力，即believe sb is reliable or able，可譯為“信任，信賴，對……有信心”。例：
Some?of?his?supporters?have?stopped?believing?in?him.?
他的壹些支持者已經對他失去信心。
三、在後面接某物時意義不同
1、believe後接 sth，表示相信某事物是真的或者其內容符合事實，相當於believe sth is true，sth壹般是report（報道）、story（故事）、theory（理論）等；如：
It is dangerous to believe things on hearsay.
基於道聽途說就輕言相信是危險的。2、believe in：
(1)?相信某事物的存在，相當於believe sth exists = believe in the existence of sth，sth可以是上帝、鬼魂、外星人或其他名詞，譯成“信，信奉”；例：
I believe in the Bible / God.?
我信奉《聖經》/上帝。
(2)?相信某事物是有益的，有效的，相當於believe sth is good or effective，此時可以用動名詞作賓語，即believe in doing sth；
He believes deeply in the need for a tax reform.?
他深信有必要進行稅收改革。
(3)?對某事物有信心，壹般是事物的屬性或人的特性、能力等抽象名詞，相當於have confidence in。前兩種用法都可以與第三種互換，轉變成believe in the existence / effectiveness of sth等。
I believe in your ability to find solutions.?
我相信妳有能力找到解決辦法。
