名稱由來
“成都”來歷，據《太平寰宇記》記載，是借用西周建都的歷史經過，取周王遷岐，壹年而所居成聚，二年成邑，三年成都而得名蜀都。蜀語成都二字的讀音就是蜀都。成者畢也、終也，成都的含義就是蜀國終了的都邑，或者說最後的都邑。
蜀漢、成漢、前蜀、後蜀等政權先後在此建都；壹直是各朝代的州郡治所；漢為全國五大都會之壹；唐為中國最發達工商業城市之壹，史稱“揚壹益二”；北宋是汴京外第二大都會，發明世界上第壹種紙幣交子。擁有都江堰、武侯祠、杜甫草堂等名勝古跡，是中國最佳旅遊城市。
