1） staff復數的兩種形式：staff, staffs， staffs大多指兩批及以上的職員，使用不多見（如壹個報社有壹個staff，兩個報社有兩個staffs）；
2） staff作主語時，謂語動詞的單復數均可（美式英語通常不用復數動詞）；
3） （…的）工作人員中的壹員/壹名員工/員工之壹，不可說a staff；可以說：
an employee (of/in…)，
a staff member(of…)；one of the staff members (of…)，
a member of staff (of…), one of the members of the staff (of…)，
on the staff (of…)。

在英國英語中，staff（第1義）可作單數：
a staff of ten (= a group of ten people)職工十人
亦可作復數：
I have ten staff working for me. 我手下有十名職員。
該詞若用作動詞的主語，該動詞用復數：
The staff in this shop are very helpful. 這家店裏的員工非常樂意幫忙。
在美國英語中，staff（第1及第2義）只能做單數：a staff of ten職工十人（但不能用ten staff）

復數形式staffs較少用，但在英國英語和美國英語中均指兩批或以上的職員：
the senator and his staff 參議員及他的工作人員（單數）
