《Stay》在剛創作之初，Mikky Ekko並不喜歡這首歌曲，因為他認為這首歌曲很“脆弱”，不符合兩人的風格。之後蕾哈娜勸他又聽了壹遍《Stay》的前奏，聽了之後他突然發現這首歌曲對自己很有啟發。於是決定繼續寫此曲。
