《Love Story》的創作靈感來源於泰勒·斯威夫特感興趣的壹個男生，然而這個男生並不受歡迎。當泰勒·斯威夫特再次想起這件事的時候，便有感而發寫下這首歌曲，她把這件事在第二副歌前後部分的位置，並圍繞這些歌詞發展了整首歌。
泰勒·斯威夫特認為歌詞中的壹句“嫁給我吧，朱麗葉，我愛妳”是每個女孩都幻想的結局，她希望自己在某壹天能夠擁有這樣的結局，這也是泰勒·斯威夫特為什麽把這句歌詞寫入歌曲中的原因。
