來自倫敦的海默的父親即是壹位演員，兩人還在電視劇Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story扮演過父子。2004年，他和Johnny Depp合作了《尋找夢幻島》，在其中扮演了激發Depp靈感的小飛俠原型的小孩Peter。片中他的表演讓Depp驚為天人，所以在和老搭檔蒂姆·波頓合作《查理與巧克力工廠》時，Depp力薦海默扮演片中善良的窮人家的孩子查理。結果他的表演沒有讓大家失望，也讓越來越多的人認識了這個單純可愛的英國小演員。雖然2006年片約滿滿，不過，他說他長大後不會再做演員了。
