同位語從句的先行詞有如下：
同位語從句的先行詞通常為answer，hope，fact，truth，belief，promise，information，conclusion，order，suggestion，problem，question，thought，report，belief，decision，doubt，opinion，theory等抽象名詞。
that既可引導同位語從句又可引導定語從句，其區別在於：同位語從句由連接詞that引導，連接詞that本身無意義，在同位語從句中不充當任何成分，不可省略，不可以用其他詞替代。
定語從句由關系代詞that引導，關系代詞that在從句中充當壹定的成分，作賓語時可省略。由when，where，why引導的同位語從句和定語從句的區別在於：同位語從句由連接副詞只起連接作用，沒有指代作用。
