英文中有關荷蘭的三個詞the Netherlands, Holland, Dutch
The Netherlands指荷蘭，就象China指中國壹樣。
Holland也指荷蘭。曾經“荷蘭”（荷蘭語Koninkrijk der Nederlanden）在日耳曼語裏面是指尼德蘭王國，而Holland只是尼德蘭王國的最大的兩個省（今南荷蘭省、北荷蘭省），這兩個省在全世界以從事貿易聞名，久而久之，人們便以 Holland代指荷蘭，但現在這兩個省只是荷蘭西部國土的壹部分。
Dutch是指荷蘭人，就象Chinese指中國人壹樣。Dutch也指荷蘭語。
The Kingdom of the Netherlands是荷蘭的正式稱呼
