創作背景
影片劇本靈感自1945年的音樂片《關夜鶯的籠子》，導演克裏斯托弗·巴哈提亞7、8歲時看過這部電影，留下了深刻的印象。
在影片《放牛班的春天》中，和雅克·貝漢壹起合作的都是他的老搭檔。該片也是克裏斯·巴哈蒂壹鳴驚人的導演處女作。巴哈蒂涉足影界之前，曾擔任10年以上的音樂制作人，這使他在該片中對音樂的把握爐火純青。
