Ⅰ. why not “好的、可以呀、為什麽不可以呢?”如：
①--Mum, may I go out to play basketball now? –Why not?
③ Why not ask your teacher? 怎麽不去問壹問妳的老師呢?
此外還可表壹種不可理解的心情：
① --I won’t see the film again. – Why not?
Ⅱ. why don’t 是壹種友好的建議(a friendly suggestion).無論在什麽場合，使用起來十分親切。後面接主語。如：
① Why don’t you go swimming? 為什麽不去遊泳呢?
② Why don’t I give Lily some colourful pencils? 我給莉莉壹些彩筆，好嗎?
