雖說Rufus在唱法上極力模仿Jeff,但是聽起來與Jeff的感覺完全不同. Rufus的聽起來象首動情的情歌,而Jeff的歌裏那種深深的絕望,讓人心碎. Leonard Cohen，以前在潛水員之家介紹過他的名作IN MY SECERT LIFE（在我的秘密生涯）。此曲HALLELUJAH旋律哀怨低徊，結構上又近似循環式聖詩體，高潮詠唱部分極度舒展，給人如同沐浴聖主光華的感受。但早期版本，後部歌詞以及編曲都和現在這個版本很不壹樣，尤其是科恩主唱的版本，充滿磁性的低音，低回飽滿的吟唱，又如同另壹杯香醇的美酒。
