當not only…but also位於句首引出句子時，not only 後的句子通常用部分倒裝形式。用法如下：
1、連接兩個不同形式的謂語：如果用not only...but also對某壹個人或者事物進行兩次具有遞進關系的描述，但兩次描述的謂語形式不同。
原因是兩個句子中的謂語形式不同的情況下，我們就應該看做是對兩個分句進行遞進連接，所以not only和but also分別置於兩個分句句首，第壹個分句引起部分倒裝。
Not only is she thoughtful, but (also) she sacrifices her own interests for those of?others.她不僅僅多思善慮，而且總是舍己為人。
2、連接兩個相同形式的謂語：如果是對某壹個人或事物進行兩次具有遞進關系的描述，而且描述的謂語形式相同，即同為“be+表語”構成性質（狀態）的描述。
Not only is she thoughtful, but (also) she is broad-minded.她不僅僅多思善慮，而且心胸開闊。
需要註意的是。在使用not only...but also的倒裝用法時，務必註意“壹個條件”：即並列謂語；“兩個可能”：壹是兩種不同形式的謂語（必須倒裝），二是兩個相同形式的謂語（在表示強調語氣時可以倒裝）。
需要註意：
1、如果置於句首的Not only… but also僅連接兩個並列詞語，不可用倒裝結構，如：Not only you but also I am fond of music。只有當Not only… but also連接兩個分句時，才在第壹個分句用倒裝結構。例如：
Not only is he a teacher, but he is also a poet.他不僅是壹位教師，而且是壹位詩人。
Not only did he speak more correctly, but he spoke more easily.不僅他講得更正確，也講得更不費勁了。
2、如果修飾主語就不能倒裝。Only John was there-----因為only已經修飾主語了。She met only John there------Only John did she meet there------only修飾John放在句首就要倒裝。
