Happiness or not, lies in a shirt, lies in a shirt wean by a happy man. But the happy man that the king has found out was pruning the vines merrily. Does he have a happy shirt? Please listen to The Happy Man’s Shirt.

旁白:從前有位國王,他有個獨生兒子,若掌上明珠,可是王子總是悶悶不了,每天在窗前呆望天空。

Aside: A king had an only son that he thought the world of. But this prince was always unhappy. He would spend days on end at his window staring into space.

國王:哎呀,妳到底缺什麽呢?哪兒不稱心呢?

King: Oh, What on earth do you lack? What's wrong with you?"

王子:爸爸,我自己也搞不清楚。

Prince: I don't even know myself, Father."

國王:哦!妳戀愛啦!哎呀,如果妳喜歡哪個姑娘,告訴我,我會為妳操辦的,讓妳跟她結婚,無論是哪個最強大的國家公主,還是世上最貧寒的農家姑娘,我都可以辦的到。

Aside: Thus the search resumed, and before long the king was told about a neighboring king, who everybody said was a truly happy man. He had a wife as good as she was beautiful and a whole slew of children. He had conquered all his enemies, and his country was at peace. Again hopefully, the king immediately sent ambassadors to him to ask for his shirt. The neighboring king received the ambassadors and said”

Neighboring king: Yes, indeed, I have everything anybody could possibly want. But at the same time I worry because I'll have to die one day and leave it all. I can't sleep at night for worrying about that!

旁白:使臣們想,還是別帶回這個國王的襯衣為妙。國王沒辦法,便去打獵散心,他開槍打中了壹只野兔,但只是傷了它,野兔帶著三條腿奔跑著,國王追趕著野兔把隨從們遠遠地拋在後面,在森林外的曠野裏,國王聽到有人在唱歌,他便收住腳步。

Aside: The ambassadors thought it wiser to go home without this man's shirt.

At his wit's end, the king went hunting. He fired at a hare but only wounded it, and the hare scampered away on three legs. The king pursued it, leaving the hunting party far behind him. 0ut in the open field he heard a man singing a refrain. The king stopped in his tracks.

國王:這位唱歌的人,壹定是位幸福的人。

King: Whoever sings like that is bound to be happy!

旁白:歌聲把他引到壹座葡萄園,在那,他發現壹個小夥子,在修剪著壹個葡萄藤

Aside: The song led him into a vineyard, where he found a young man singing and pruning the vines.

小夥子:您好啊,陛下。這麽早,您就到鄉下來了。

The youth:Good day, Majesty, So early and already out in the country?

國王:天哪,妳願意我把妳帶到京都去嗎?妳將成為我的朋友。

King: Bless you! Would you like me to take you to the capital? You will be my friend.

小夥子:多謝您了,陛下。這種事,我根本不想。即使羅馬教皇與我換個位子,我也不幹。

The youth: Much obliged, Majesty, but I wouldn't even consider it. I wouldn't even change places with the Pope.

旁白:國王壹把抓住小夥子,去解他的上衣扣子。突然,國王停住了,垂下了雙手,這個幸福的人沒有穿襯衣!

Aside: The king grabbed him and started unbuttoning the youth's jacket. All of a sudden he stopped, and his arms fell to his sides. The happy man wore no shirt.
