1.Until/till 直到….till 其實就是 until，這兩個英文單字是壹樣的意思，till 是 until 的簡寫，till = until。
至於 till 跟until 的用法，其實表達的是壹個持續的動作，這個動作持續了壹段時間。
例： I’ll be out of the office until 21th May. 五月二十壹日之前，我都不在辦公室。
例： I worked until 7 p.m. 我工作到晚上七點。
例： I can use my parents car until 5 p.m. 我可以使用我父母的車到下午五點。
例： We had to stay in the exam room until the end of the exam. 我們在考試結束之前都必須待在考試的教室裏。
上面就是英文 Until/till 的用法，簡單的說就是某個動作，會壹直持續到某個時間點之前。
2.Not until 直到…才至於英文 Not until 的用法呢？ Not until 跟 until 用法剛好相反。上面說到 until 是指某個動作壹直持續到某個時間點，而 Not until 則是「直到…才」的意思，也就是某個動作到某個時間點之前都不進行，壹直到某個時間點到了，才進行該動作。
例： We did not eat till past midnight. 直到過了午夜我們才吃東西。
例： We do not know what is good until we have lost it. 我們不知道什麽是好的，直到失去它。
例： You will not achieve your goals until you start doing something. 除非妳開始做某些事，否則妳無法實現自己的目標。
從上面妳可以發現 Until 跟 Not until 的差別是，前者是某個動作壹直持續到某個時間點之前，而後者是直到某個時間點才開始某個動作。
3.Until 跟 By 的用法差異關於 Until ，還很容易跟 By 的意思搞混。Until 是指某個動作在某個時間點之前，壹直持續的意思。而 By 則強調「在…之前」，或「在…的時候」。
比較下面句：
例： I’ll be there until 5 pm. 下午五點我都會在那裏。 （五點之後就走了）
例： I’ll call you by 5 pm. 我五點之前打給妳。 （我可能會提早五點之前打給妳，也可能剛好五點打給妳，但絕不會在五點之後打給妳）
從上面的英文例句可以知道，until 強調時間的持續，壹直持續到某個時間點的狀態。而 by 則是指在某個時間點之前，又或者是在剛好那個時間點上。
3.By the time 到……的時候至於還有壹個常見的英文片語叫做 by the time，by the time 是指「到……的時候」。
例： It’s too late to go to the bank now, by the time we get there it will be closed. 現在去銀行太晚了，我們到那裏的時候它都關了。
例： Our holiday ends tomorrow so by the time you get the postcard, I will be back home. 我們的假期明天就結束了，所以當妳收到明信片的時候，我已經在家了。
