Helen Keller Helen Keller lived in the U.S.A. She was a great woman. When Helen was a baby,she got very sick. Afthe many weeks,the doctor said:"she is better,but now she can't see and she can't hear." Her mother and father were very sad . Afthe a few years,things got worse. There was no way for Helen to speak to other people. She heard nothing. She saw nothing. She didn't undertand anyting. Then one day a teacher e to live with Helen and her family. The teacher helped Helen learn about words. Helen was a bright child and soon she learned to spell her first word. When she was older,she went to college. Helen was very famous. She helped many blind and deaf people. She traveled around the world and helped many people. Helen was a very old woman when she died. The world remembers her today as a brave and wonderful person. She was blind and deaf,but she found a way to see and hear.　朋友們，妳相信奇跡嗎？妳相信既盲又聾又啞的人也能成為作家嗎？有的，這個人便是偉大的海倫凱勒女士。她在壹歲多的時候，因為生病，從此眼睛看不見，並且又聾又啞了。由於這個原因，海倫的脾氣變得非常暴躁，動不動就發脾氣摔東西。她家裏人看這樣下去不是辦法，便替她請來壹位很有耐心的家庭教師蘇麗文小姐。海倫在她的熏陶和教育下，逐漸改變了。她了解每個人都很愛她，所以她不能辜負他們對她的期望。她利用僅有的觸覺、味覺和嗅覺來認識四周的環境，努力充實自己，後來更進壹步學習寫作。幾年以來，當她的第壹本著作“我的壹生”出版時，立即轟動了全美國。海倫凱勒雖然五官殘缺，但是她能克服不幸，完成大學教育。以後更致力於教育殘缺兒童的社會工作，這種努力上進的精神，實在值得我們效法，海倫凱勒真可算是個殘而不廢的人。 啟示：海倫凱勒能夠不因缺廢而自暴自棄，反而更加努力上進，所以最後才有卓絕的成就。小朋友既聰明又健康，假如還不知道努力用功的話，真是很難為情喲！　1 She was a great woman in the U.S.A. 2 She couldn't see or hear. 3 A teacher with the name of Ann Sullivan. 4 She helped many blind and deaf people. 5 The world remembers her today as a brave and wonderful person. 3
