創作背景：
克裏斯·馬汀（酷玩樂隊主唱）在看了二十世紀墨西哥藝術家弗裏達·卡羅的壹幅畫後產生了《Viva La Vida》創作靈感，他將畫作的名字作為了該首歌的標題。
在西班牙語中，"viva"表達著向某人或者某事喝彩的意思。壹天夜晚，克裏斯·馬汀坐在鋼琴邊，慢慢地有了這首歌的感覺。克裏斯·馬汀坐壹邊歌，壹邊他寫的唱給強尼·巴克蘭（酷玩樂隊吉他手），當強尼感到滿意時克裏斯就會把寫的部分給威爾·查平（酷玩樂隊鼓手）。
