This is the perfect action movie. Not only does it contain thrilling action sequences, brilliantly directed, it also has great dramatical power and the three main performances of Leon, Mathilda and Stansfield are all superbly delivered, each one very special on its own. I also must praise the great cinematography and photography of this movie, which is a trademark of Besson's. Jean Reno certainly gives one of his best performances (excellent actor overall) as the deadly yet childish Leon, a character with a sensitivity so appealing it's impossible to dislike him, in spite of his office. Natalie Portman is just mind-blowing in her character Mathilda, a tortured child with incredible strength and hopefulness. Some have said that Gary Oldman is over the top in this, but I just find his character exhilarating, so unpredictable and creepy, you actually become afraid of him, which is very, very uncommon in most villains, specially recent ones,totally predictable and boring. I only wish action movies were made along these lines, with a simple, yet powerful story, and characters you actually care about and feel related to. Great Movie.
