Europe樂隊1981年成立於瑞典.起初樂隊名字叫"Force"(力量).由核心成員JoeyTempest(主唱)、JohnNorum(吉他)和JohnLeven(貝斯)組成.在壹次瑞典全國業余搖滾樂團大賽中獲得冠軍並得到壹紙唱片合約.之後將樂隊名更改為Europe並在瑞典發行了兩張專輯"Europe"和"WingsofTomorrow".
樂隊簽約著名唱片公司Epic.吉他手JohnNorum離隊,KeeMarcello接替了他的位置.鼓手IanHaughland與MichaelMichaeli加入.

1986年,樂隊發行專輯"TheFinalCountdown".在專輯中,MichaelMichaeli的鍵盤成為樂隊壹大亮點.其深受歐洲古典藝術氣息所影響而特有的優美旋律、融合重金屬的爆發力、主唱高亢細致的嗓音以及簡捷的曲式使他們大獲成功.專輯也登上英國和美國排行榜前十名."TheFinalCountdown"、"Carrie"兩首歌曲也獲得最佳單曲.兩年之後，專輯"OutofThisWorldcontinued"再創佳績.
1991年,樂隊發行專輯"PrisonersofParadise"之後解散.
