這首聞名遐邇的歌曲，是根據詩人威廉·巴特勒·葉芝的同名詩歌〈 Down ?By? the ? Salley ?Garden〉譜曲而成，講述的是愛爾蘭西部斯萊戈壹條河邊的柳樹園。最初翻譯為《柳園裏》。因感覺以前的中譯版本過於直白，所以自己試譯如下。
