The ugly duck
場景：夏天，綠樹，青草，白柵欄。醜小鴨躲在模擬的蛋殼內，鴨媽媽在蛋殼前面做孵蛋的樣子，另外4只鴨蛋圍住鴨媽媽，趴在地上成圓弧狀。
音樂：（有鳥叫，知了叫等）及舞臺布景組合出壹幅恬靜、溫暖的鄉村夏日風光圖。
畫外音：It is a sunny and warm day. A mother duck lies in the stook, waiting for the birth of her children.（太陽暖烘烘的，鴨媽媽臥在稻草堆裏，等她的孩子們出世。）
鴨媽媽：Well, my babies, come out quickly please. I’m tired.（伸懶腰）哎，我的孩子們，妳們怎麽還不出世呀，可把媽媽累壞了！
(音樂停)
鴨媽媽撫摸著鴨蛋.
畫外音：Suddenly, an egg moves and come out a duck. It looks around the world and says:
突然，壹只鴨蛋動了壹下。小鴨1站了起來，看了壹下周圍的世界說：
小鴨1：Oh, what a beautiful world!“哦，多麽美麗的世界啊！”
轉過身來對媽媽說到：Hi, Mummy!
鴨媽媽：Hi, baby.
畫外音：Then, another three ducks come out from the eggs and run to their mother.
接著，另外3只小鴨從蛋殼裏逐漸在媽媽的撫摸中鉆出來，東張西望，看到媽媽後，驚喜地跑過去，喊道：
群鴨：Hi, mum! / Hi, Mummy!媽媽！媽媽！………
鴨媽媽：Oh, my sweet babies, you are so lovely.噢，我親愛的孩子們，妳們多可愛啊！
鴨媽媽和藹地撫摸著各個鴨子，群鴨很歡快地圍著鴨媽媽轉，突然小鴨4走出來驚訝地指著大蛋，說到：
小鴨4：（指著大蛋）Mum, what’s this ? Why not crack? 咦，媽媽，這是誰？還不出來呀？
鴨媽媽：Don’t mention it, I spent too much time on it, but it still has no change.
別提了，媽媽在他身上花的功夫最多，可他硬是不見壹點動靜。
畫外音：After a long wait, finally they hear the cracks, that is the very crack of the last gentle one.
（突然，發出壹聲特別刺耳的破裂聲，蛋裂開，醜小鴨慢慢伸伸懶腰鉆出來，大家蹲在地上擡頭仔細看著那只小鴨，先是非常驚奇，然後驚叫，4只小鴨倒地，鴨媽媽也非常失望地看著醜小鴨。）
醜小鴨：Hi, friends! Nice to meet you! Hi, Mommy, hi, mommy.
眾小鴨驚異、兩個兩個交頭接耳。
小鴨2：Wow, his feather is gray, it’s too rube!呀！他的毛是灰灰的，太土了。
小鴨3：Haha, His mouth is so big 瞧！她的嘴巴那麽大
齊聲：It’s just an “ugly ducking”! We don’t like stay with you.（他可真是壹只“醜小鴨”。我們不想和妳呆在壹起）
鴨媽媽：Ah! Why is she so ugly? She shouldn’t come into this world! But she is still my baby, I can’t leave you. 哎，為什麽她這麽醜呢？她不應該來到這個世界上的，但是她還是我的孩子，我不會離開妳的。
（鴨媽媽看著醜小鴨，搖頭做無可奈何狀。）
鴨媽媽壹說完，群鴨便壹個個跑到媽媽周圍撒嬌，說到：
小鴨4：Mum, I’m your lovely baby.媽媽，我是妳可愛的孩子。
小鴨2：Mum, I’m your lovely baby. 媽媽，我是妳可愛的孩子。
小鴨1、小鴨3: Mum, I’m your lovely baby, too. 媽媽，我也是妳可愛的孩子。
鴨媽媽：OK, OK, my babies, you are all my good babies. Oh, are you hungry now?
好了，好了，孩子們，妳們都是我的好孩子。哦，妳們現在餓了嗎？
小鴨(齊)：Yes, I’m hungry. 嗯，我餓了。
鴨媽媽：OK, OK, my children. I’m going to take some food for you. You can stay here and play games. Be good, OK?
那好，孩子們，我去給妳們拿些食物來，妳們可以呆在這玩遊戲，要乖哦，好嗎？
小鴨(齊)：OK, see you!好的，再見！
鴨媽媽：see you, babies! 孩子們，再見。
畫外音： So the ducks play games together. The ugly duckling also wants to play with them.
所以鴨子們就壹起玩遊戲，醜小鴨也想和他們壹起玩。
(播放的歡快音樂。小鴨們隨著音樂玩遊戲，並不時發出嬉笑聲。醜小鴨也想和她們壹起遊戲。)
醜小鴨走到小鴨2身旁，小鴨2推開她，說：
小鴨2：Go away! You are too ugly! 走開，妳太醜了！
醜小鴨又走到小鴨3身旁，小鴨3同樣推開她，說
小鴨3：You can’t play with us. Go ahead!妳不能跟我們玩，走開！
醜小鴨：I’m not beautiful, but I am lonely. I want to play with you.我長的不漂亮，但是我很孤單，我想跟妳們壹起玩。
小鴨4：No, you can’t. We don’t want an ugly duckling to spoil our fun. .不行。我們不想壹只醜鴨子破壞我們的興致。
群鴨：LE-AVE, leave，Let’s go! （LE-AVE，離開。我們走！）
群鴨離場。
醜小鴨：Dear mum, Life is unfair to me. I’m ugly . But it’s not my fault . Mum, I’m sorry , I have to leave you. Bye mum. （媽，生活對我太不公平了，長得醜，不是我的錯啊！媽媽，對不起，我要離開妳了！）
醜小鴨離場，鴨媽媽拿著籃子進場。
鴨媽媽：Oh, my children , come to eat some food.孩子們，來吃東西啦！
群鴨：I’m coming, I’m coming, I’m coming!我來了！
(鴨媽媽做出撒米粒的樣子，小鴨們隨著鴨媽媽的動作方向搶吃食物。)
鴨媽媽: But where is the ugly duckling?但是醜小鴨去哪了呢？
群鴨：Sorry, we let her away. She has gone.不好意思，我們讓她離開，她已經走了。
鴨媽媽：Oh, my god! But whether she is beautiful or not, she is still your sister. Let’s go to find her.哦，天啦。但是不管她是否漂亮，她都是妳的妹妹啊，讓我們壹起去把她找回來吧。
群鴨排成隊列，跟在鴨媽媽後面。
鴨媽媽：My baby, where are you? My baby, where are you? 我的孩子，妳在哪？
第二場: 醜小鴨流浪
場景：秋冬，黃葉，枯草。
音樂響起，醜小鴨蹣跚著進場。
畫外音：Ugly duckling waddles and wades for a lonely time. She feels very thirsty and wants to drink some water. （醜小鴨鉆出籬笆，離開了家。他很渴，想喝水。）
醜小鴨坐在地上做喝水狀，突然來了壹群小鳥。
音樂響起（班得瑞《寂靜山林》），小鳥進場。
小鳥：It’s very hot today . Let me drink some water.(今天好熱啊，我要喝點水。)
群鳥跳舞。突然，壹只小鳥說到：
小鳥：Look, a dirty thing is over there . Let me go and have a look.（看，那邊有個臟東西。我們去瞧瞧）
小鳥：Who are you?（驚訝地問）
醜小鴨：I’m …I’m …I’m a duckling.( 低著頭，小聲說。)
小鳥：Ha, ha, look at your feathers. So ugly!(小鳥拍拍自己身上的羽毛，作炫耀狀。)
小鳥：Go away! Don’t make the water dirty.( 小鳥推開醜小鴨，在池塘裏快樂地洗羽毛，然後飛走。)
（“啪啪”兩聲槍響，醜小鴨驚叫了起來，獵狗出場。）
獵狗：Oh, what a dirty thing is in my way! Go away!（獵狗向醜小鴨沖過來，撞了她壹下。）
獵狗：Ha, ha! Good luck! A duck! My tasty food!
醜小鴨：Oh, don’t touch me…(小鴨驚慌失措，沒命地奔跑。)
音樂、布景構成—幅天寒地凍的湖邊嚴冬圖。（醜小鴨在湖面上不停地劃動，最後趴在冰上凍僵了。）
畫外音：Winter comes. The water becomes ice. It’s really very cold. There is no one outside. Ugly duckling slips on the ice. She feels very cold and lonely. How she wishes someone could help her! At last She could not move any more.
醜小鴨：Oh, I’m frozen. ( 暈倒在舞臺上)
農夫：Well, poor duckling. Let me save you!（在醜小鴨身上摸了模）哎，可憐的小東西，還有救！（拾走“鴨子”）
第三場醜小鴨變天鵝
場景：春天，綠樹，花草，音樂。構成壹幅湖邊春光圖。
畫外音：Spring comes, the flowers are blooming. Ugly duckling fly to the lake, he sees some beautiful white swans over there. They have white feather and slender necks. Ugly ducking wants to play with them.（春天來了，花開了，醜小鴨撲撲翅膀，向湖邊飛去。。看見湖面上有幾只美麗的白天鵝，雪白的羽毛，長長的脖子，美麗極了。他多想和他們壹起玩啊！）
醜小鴨：Ah! Beautiful birds, your feather is so white, your necks is so slender, your posture is so nice, you are most dignity bird in the world! （啊！美麗的大鳥，妳們的羽毛是那樣潔白，妳們的脖子是那樣修長，妳們的體態是那樣優美，妳們是世界上最高貴的鳥兒。）
天鵝1：Hello, my lovely friend, come and play with us!（可愛的小客人，快來和我們壹起玩吧！）
眾天鵝：Come on! Come on!(快來呀！來吧！)
醜小鴨：You are so warm-hearted! But, don’t you feel me ugly?(妳們真是太好了！可是，妳們不覺得我很醜嗎？)
天鵝2：No, you are a pretty swan!(妳是壹只漂亮的白天鵝呀！)
眾天鵝：Look at yourself! 快看看自己吧！
醜小鴨：（飛到湖邊，對著湖面左顧右看）Oh, my god! Is this me ?I’m no longer an ugly duckling, I am a petty swan!啊，上帝！這難道是我的影子嗎？原來我不是醜小鴨，而是壹只漂亮的天鵝啦！
（天鵝舞曲響起，4大天鵝和小天鵝***同起舞，跳出醜小鴨長成天鵝後的幸福快樂。）
畫外音：It is no matter to be born in a duckery if you are a swan egg. You ought to be the beautiful swan one day.（只要妳是壹只天鵝蛋，就是生在養鴨場也沒什麽關系；總有壹天會變成壹只美麗的天鵝。）
